Thomas Salpietro is an Australian fine art photographer based in Mexico whose work spans long-form photographic projects across multiple continents. His practice combines documentary observation with the visual language of cinema, creating interconnected bodies of work exploring living cultures, tradition and identity through long-form visual narratives. Developed over years rather than weeks, each project invites viewers beyond individual photographs and into a broader narrative.

That instinct for storytelling is rooted in film. As a Set Decorator on productions for studios including A24, AGBO, Legendary, Netflix and Amazon MGM Studios, Salpietro has spent almost two decades crafting the worlds a camera moves through before a single frame is captured. Today, that same cinematic sensibility informs his photographic practice, where observation, collaboration and time shape each body of work.
